Upcoming Zombie Apocalypse

I’m in Vegas this week for a conference and staying at the Palms hotel. Normally I’d stay at my beloved Marriott, but someone else is picking up the tab. After I got all settled in and made sure the booth was squared away I spoke to my wife for a bit and then wandered downstairs to the lobby (or “Casino” level) to grab a bite to eat. The Palms has some fancy-schmancy places to eat, some more normal-type places and even a fast food court of sorts. Although I could do fancy I just wanted to eat and go….and fast food wasn’t going to do it for me. That left we with four choices: a Mexican place, a Chinese place, a mixed food place with an asian flair, and the buffet. What the hell, the buffet will be quick.

So I’m sitting there at my table having the required thin slice of “meh” Prime Rib (Sorry, Palms, but when you have a family who raised their own Black Angus beef, the bar is set pretty damned high) and looking around the room. The majority of the diners in my area are Hispanic or Asian….both local and foreigners and I see a lot of them just chowing down on crab legs. The table next to me the family has an extra plate just piled high with crab legs and it’s not quite a free-for-all.

I don’t know why but my mind immediately jumped to the thought that this town out in the middle of the desert is just a HUGE suck of resources. I just couldn’t help but to think that I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be stuck out in the middle of the dessert in Las Vegas when the “inevitable” zombie apocalypse occurs. If any type of enforced travel restrictions came up this place is so screwed!

Is this just a total random thought or what?
