I just discovered this anime series on Netflix.
High School of the Dead is Shaun of the Dead meets Bring it On. Lots of gore and big-breasted teens with the typical skirt upshots. It is definitely adult anime fare....for our country. Since it comes from Japan, the majority of the characters, depicted as "barely in their teens" are over-sexualized. It works for their culture as they don't have the puritan underpinnings ours does.
The gratuitous sexuality is a bit much. The overwhelming majority of it, possibly all of it, doesn't add anything to the story. Don't get me wrong, I like a little T&A as much as the next guy, but it is easy to overlook that these characters are supposed to be teenagers, and younger ones at that. That's a bit creepy. The action is pretty good though and if you watch it as a zombie-horror-survival series instead of a creepy-lecherous-OMG-teenybopper series it isn't bad. As much as I'd seen so far there are two adults as characters and both have some serious issues that make the kids look like the real heroes they are.
I've only watched the first three episodes, or "Acts" as they are called. Makes me think I don't have enough improvised weaponry around the house. Maybe a trip to the sports store for some baseball bats might be in order......

Zari and I are on Act 10 right now. There are some good team dynamics in the show. The T&A is a bit much, but it's not horrible.
I "had" to watch the remaining shows of season one. I hope season two comes out soon.
