Cool Things to Find (Mars Curiosity)

Cool Things to Find
Now I realize I probably share way too many videos already, but I cannot help it.  When I find something cool I just want to share it.  More than that, I want to be able to check it out again later if I want.

Posting these videos here let me easily accomplish both tasks.

Almost two weeks ago I posted a nifty little ditty called, "Dumb Ways to Die".  With all of the hoopla regarding a possible "earth-shaking" Mars Curiosity discovery which is now being downplayed significantly, it was only a matter of time before someone got in a good something-or-other.

Awkward Yet Cool Reward

Castle Story from Sauropod Studio
Yesterday I was sent a link to a short YouTube video regarding another Kickstarter campaign.  On the surface, this Castle Story campaign is everything I despise about Kickstarter.  It was a classic, "fund me so I can have living expenses while I work on my idea" plea, but as I delved in a bit closer I found out that was only part of the deal.

Yes, these three game designers needed to have money for living expenses in order to finish their game, but they wanted to re-hire the musicians they've had before to compose a score for the game and they had a demo they've been working on for the last couple of years.  The fact that they weren't asking for much in the scheme of things (as game development goes) helped out a lot.

The game seems to be a cross between Minecraft and Castle Defense and they have a great new idea as far as thanking their backers goes.  I'll let you discover that gem (*snicker*) on your own should you choose to do so (and get the pun), but I wanted to share this funny and creative "additional backer reward" video from the guys at Sauropod Studio.

Funny "Private" Muppet Clip from the 70's

Funny Muppet Show ad pitch to network executives
Recently I watched The Muppets, and I really liked the movie.  Of course it didn't hurt that I like Marshall.....er, I mean Jason Segel and Amy Adams, but growing up on a semi-steady diet of the Muppet Show I really liked Animal and Dynamite Harry*.

Harry had a lot more screen time in this movie than is normal, which I liked.

Wil Wheaton & Felicia Day Coming to Origins!

Awesome web-show about a group of online game players.
I was playing around with Twitter and saw a retweeted post from one Dave Fitzgerald: "Just found out @wilw and @feliciaday are coming to origins. First good guest stars in almost a decade. Good job GAMA."

Huh....what?  Awesome, but too bad that they are both coming to what I'm predicting (and hoping I'm wrong) will be a relatively bad convention.  Moving the con up to the same week as Memorial Day....Memorial Day during a recession, is going to really cut down on attendance.

I Loves Me Some Marvel Superheros (Obviously)

Carolyn bought a Blu-Ray copy of Thor today and we enjoyed watching it on her first day off in almost a week.  After the movie we went through some of the featurettes and I finally got to see the entire clip of "The Consultant".    I've been teased with a 50 second clip, but the whole thing has so far eluded me.

It's pretty good, but I'm surprised that the entire thing hasn't been made available.  I'm going to assume that there is a good reason, so I'm not going to buck the trend (and face Marvel's wrath).  While I was typing this Carolyn made another trip to the store and picked up Captain America.  There is another short starring Agent Coulson entitled, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer"

Cool and messed up at the same time

I have a number of blogs and websites that I try to check in on every day.  There are more that I check in on a couple times a week and a few that are once a week check-ins.

The Lair of the Evil DM is one of the weekly check-ins, but if you have spare time on Wednesdays he often puts up some extra eye candy.
