As part of my New Year's Resolutions I've indicated that I need to drop a few pounds that I've picked up in the last year of being unemployed. I could do some huge diet and exercise routine, but I'd rather be a bit more realistic. I'll exercise some more just because I need too and as far as a diet goes, I'm just trying to make small healthier changes.
One big change is actually eating breakfast, a meal I usually skip. Skipping breakfast generally leads into me eating a larger lunch than what I need to. The compromise is me eating a small, healthy breakfast.
Lately that breakfast has been a homemade smoothie. Nothing fancy, tastes good, and is easy to do.
My breakfast smoothie:
1/4 Cup Nonfat Greek Yogurt
1 Tablespoon Almond Butter
1 Cup Frozen Fruit
Almond Milk
I'm not too fond of measuring things out, so I use a large spoon. I'm not a big fan of yogurt, but Greek Yogurt isn't so offensive in stuff to me. Four scoops of the yogurt is roughly 1/4 cup. A heaping scoop of almond butter and then I dump in a bunch of frozen fruit. I'm guessing it is a cup in volume. I splash in almond milk and usually end up adding more. The milk is just lubrication for the blender.
If you end up making too much and you don't feel like eating it up, scoop it into ice cube trays and freeze for use later.
