Yesterday I was hankering for a bite to eat and I figured I would try this recipe for "Instant Mug o' Mac & Cheese". I had almost all of the right ingredients and it looked so good.
The 3-2-1 Snack Cake, another mug dish, worked out just wonderful, so I was willing to give this a go.
What a mistake that was......
This looks great, right? It was a pretty simple ingredient list: water, pasta, cheese, and milk. I normally don't keep milk around the house so I used the appropriate amount of powdered milk.
My mug required an extra cycle of cooking, which I was forewarned about. When it was ready for the milk and cheese, they went in and seemed to blend wonderfully. The issue I had was that the cheese did melt, but it just formed a big glop of goo in the bottom of the mug. I tried stirring it up, but it just stuck to the spoon. I even put it back in the microwave for another minute, but nothing changed.
My lunchtime snack dreams went from this......
...........to this. I doubt that it was the fact I used powdered milk, but I could be wrong. I'm willing to give it another go next time I get groceries.
I just wish we could buy shelf-stable milk boxes like I used to get overseas. That would have been perfect for this.
