Two days ago when we were watching The Avengers I got in a good laugh. S.H.I.E.L.D., this high-speed, high-tech organization had a wonderful helicarrier, which was almost another character in the movie.
When you first see Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner up on the flight deck they are surrounded by planes. Odds are you don't recognize the planes because they are obsolete A4 Skyhawks, a plane built in the 50's.
I did see some newer jets, the majority of what you see as background dressing is a plane that was essentially retired two decades ago. Drag them out of the boneyard and slap some fresh paint on them and they still look pretty good though.
I came across this cool video the other day that you really should check out. It is more of a unsolicited work portfolio for this guy looking to get a job working on a future S.H.I.E.L.D. television show.
