Firefly

Today I spent far too much time putting together a paper model house for review on DieHardGameFan.com.  No need to go into details on that because you could always read the review when it comes out.

When I'm busy fiddling around with projects I like to have the TV playing, which I find kind of odd because I'm usually behind on listening to the Adam Carolla and Roll For Initiative podcasts.  Usually I'll throw on either a documentary or a show I've already seen before.

Lately I've been putting Firefly on Netflix.  The show is a decade old now and it still holds up so well.  Fourteen episodes and a movie just don't do this show justice.  It is so obvious to me that there was a real love for this show, not just from fans, but from the creators of the series.

I have the DVD set because I missed the series when it first aired.  Actually, I would have bought this set even if I had seen the original airings.  The convenience of Netflix rocks, but one thing I've noticed is that each episode on Netflix has a new voice-over introduction that is not on the DVD episodes.

I know we have the upcoming Avengers movie that I've been getting excited about, but the more I re-watch Firefly, the more I wish that this was back on the air.  It'll never happen, but I can always dream.

Cool Firefly Art by Ron Chan

My favorite quote from Firefly (courtesy of IMDB.com):

Sir Warwick Harrow: You have to finish it, lad. You have to finish it. For a man to lay beaten... and yet breathing? It makes him a coward.
Inara Serra: It's humiliation.
Mal: Sure. It would be humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man.
[lightly stabs Atherton with the sword]
Mal: Guess I'm just a good man.
[stabs him again]
Mal: Well, I'm all right.

Glad to see yet another fan of the Firefly series \o

The Firefly 10th Anniversary Reunion Special - "Browncoats Unite!" on Science Channel was very entertaining for the diehard fan. It sure was nice to see them all around the table once again (too bad it did not take place on the Firefly galley set.)

The Science Channel program has supplied much youtube fare. If you missed the show, one of the highlights is featured in a clip called "Firefly Reunion Special - Nathan Fillion Reveals Untold Firefly Secrets" available at the following: http://youtu.be/UM8lXIAM4A8

Share and Enjoy!
