Tomb Raider Reboot

I haven't been a hug fan of the Tomb Raider games.  I think I played only one game in the entire series because it was a bit much.

To me it was gamer porn, and I don't mean that in a good way.  While it was great to have a strong female leading character in a video game, the fact that it was a rather buxom woman who jumped around....or bounced around a lot.....kind of ruined it for me.

The game I played was basically a puzzle platform jumper with some odd combat thrown in.  The most interesting graphics were Laura's buns & boobs.

The new Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics looks like this franchise is getting a serious reboot.  The initial trailer looks pretty sweet, but it might not be appropriate for all viewers, so I have it embedded after the break.

I like that Laura Croft looks a bit more natural and it appears the gameplay is going to be more survival-oriented.  She won't be bouncing around dual-wielding over-sized pistols that have no recoil and unlimited ammo.

Gone is the oversized chest and cheesy apparel.  To me this was the PRG equivalent of chain mail bikinis.  Sure, it might look good, but it was impractical and that absurdity helped take me out of the moment, ruining some of the gaming enjoyment.

For your comparison, a before and after.

I think I'll look forward to playing this version of Tomb Raider.
